Card Shop (The Hallmark Shop)/Disney Clothiers

The Hallmark Card Shop

The Walt Disney Company had a long standing licensing agreement with the Kansas City-based greeting card company that went back to 1931.  Although Gibson had the licence for greeting cards after Disneyland opened, Hallmark was back in the fold in the 1970s.  The Card Shop was also referred to as the Hallmark Shop.  Located off of Center Street on the left side of Main Street, it sold stationary, party items and gift wrapping.  It closed in 1985 and was replaced by Disney Clothiers.  The images below are the front and back of a 1974 Date Book given away at the shop.

This shop opened on February 24, 1985 and stocked some of the higher-end fashions, as well as jewelry.  It was later swallowed up by the Emporium when it expanded.  The store had wonderful themed artwork hanging on the walls.
